On Tuesday, August 14, Oklahoma City residents can stop adhering to the odd/even schedule of watering their lawns.

In early August, the city asked residents to help conserve water during record-high temperatures by watering their yards based on the last number of their addresses. Oklahoma City says the restrictions are no longer needed, but it still encourages residents and businesses to continue practices learned during the mandatory conservation. Those practices include:

  • Watering no more than every other day
  • Water early in the morning or late in the evening to prevent water lost to evaporation
  • Avoid watering when windy
  • Make sure sprinklers water the grass, not concrete
