Oklahoma City Public School leaders say they are re-evaluating their dress code policy after the embarrassment of the past few days, when 5-year-old Cooper Barton's teachers at Wilson Elementary made him turn his Michigan T-shirt inside out last week.

The district's dress code policy only allows students to wear sports gear representing Oklahoma universities.

News of Cooper's plight went national, even reaching the University of  Michigan's athletic director, who vowed to send Cooper's family a lot of Michigan gear.

On Thursday, OKC School Board Chair Angela Monson said the dress code is not meant as a way to penalize students.

"I suspect there's probably some room for change," Monson said.

Monson says the school board will take up the dress code at its next meeting September 10.
