After defeating the No.3 team in the country Friday night, the Oklahoma Sooners were looking to avoid a hangover from the victory. Oral Roberts was looking to capitalize on one.
In the end, it was the Golden Eagles who were successful, scoring a goal in the 68th minute to down the Sooners, 1-0 Sunday afternoon in Norman.
The Sooners outshot the Golden Eagles 18-6 and 8-3 in shots on goal, but the Golden Eagles just needed a single shot to take the game.
Megan Giles scored for Oral Roberts off a pass from Jennifer Abernathy.
"I don't think we did justice for ourselves compared to how we did on Friday night, and the result is we are on the wrong end of the game," said OU Head Coach Matt Potter. "One thing I have to do is credit Oral Roberts today; they came with a game plan and stuck to it."
The Sooners will hit the road Friday night at Rice. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Oral Roberts will take on Tulsa Friday at 7:30 p.m.
