Oklahoma Baptist hosts the USTA/ITA Regional Tennis Tournament this weekend and has already laid claim to two spots in the national tournament.
Weather permitting, the event starts Friday at 9 a.m. on the OBU courts. If rain persists, the teams will move to Willow Cree Country Club in Oklahoma City.
OBU is the only school represented on the women's side. Lili Fereirra and Mariana Rosa will play Ashlynn Abbe and Iveth Luna for the regional doubles title. In singles, Fereirra, Abbe, Rosa and Luna are joined by Kelsi Lord.
University of the Southwest and Southwestern Christian will compete with OBU on the men's side. OBU's Marco Carvajal is the top seed with Southwest's Marek Ondruj seeded second in a singles field with 19 entrants. Ondruj and partner Felix Singer are the top-seeded doubles team, while Carvajal and Dario Macanovic are the second seed in the nine-team field.
