The University of Oklahoma volleyball team defeated West Virginia 3-1, Saturday night, in four sets (21-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-12) at McCasland Field House. With the victory, the Sooners improve to 13-4 overall, and 2-1 in conference action.

West Virginia fell to 8-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

It was a shaky start for the Sooners as they dropped the first set 21-25, but battled back in the last three to take home the win.

"I think after we settled down, we played a lot better," remarked head coach Santiago Restrepo. "West Virginia took it to us in the first set, and they definitely deserved to win it."

"We weren't rushing as much in the second, third and fourth set – we weren't as anxious. That helped in the end."

Three Sooners combined to strike double-digit kills on the night as the team totaled 48 kills and hit .314 on the night.

Outside hitter Tara Dunn notched the first double-double of her sophomore campaign, and ninth of her young career when she totaled 10 kills and 11 digs on the night. The sophomore successfully stuck 10 of her 25 swings to hit .400% against the Mountaineers for a season-best performance.

Dunn also added four of Oklahoma's five service aces on the night, a career-high for the Poth, Texas native.

"It is great to see Tara playing a lot more and defending the ball better," explained Restrepo. "She is capable of doing that all the time because she is such a strong hitter, and a good defender."

Junior Sallie McLaurin led the Sooners in three separate categories as she totaled 13 kills, notched a .500 hitting percentage after she knocked down 13 of 22 hits with just two errors and stuffed seven total blocks for the Sooners. Freshman, and fellow middle blocker, Kierra Holst also added 10 kills of her own off of 21 swings with no errors to hit a personal-best .476 on the night.

Defensively, senior libero Maria Fernanda added a team-high 13 digs for the Sooners on the night.

Oklahoma will face Wichita State next Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. in McCasland Field House before traveling to Fort Worth, Texas to face TCU for a Saturday matinee against the Horned Frogs. The Sooners' mid-week match will air live on FS Oklahoma.
