Interesting, many of you who wrote in about the delay in the report cards for Oklahoma schools, latched onto my comment about parents needing to step up and make low performing schools better.
Here's what some of you had to say, Red from Seminole first: "As a teacher of this state's education system for nearly 25 years I have seen a lot of crazy things proposed on school systems over the years; this is the worst. This state needs to change the focus to the parents who refuse to be parents and let the teachers teach."
Another viewer writes: "..if parents would do their job AND BE PARENTS we wouldn't have to go to this system!!!"
SJ writes: "The parents need to make sure that the students are in bed at a decent hour, get the children to school on time, feed their children, make sure their homework is complete... and make school important in the children's mind so the teachers and schools can do their job."
But Karen fires back: "I want to know my schools letter grade and am not interested in whether some other school can up their grade just to look better...The parents of poor performing schools are NOT at fault!!!!!!!"
And Michael says: "If the 'System' that wants quality teaching would spend money where it belongs, for teaching, the entire school system would be much, much better!
