Comanche County prosecutors have filed a felony charge against a high school teacher accused of bringing a gun onto school property.

Another teacher at Eisenhower High School saw the gun when William Trice opened his briefcase. The teacher reported the gun to the principal, who then contacted the school's police department.

Trice told police he accidentally brought the gun to school, and put the gun in his car in the school parking lot when he realized what he'd done. Police found it there.

Police arrested Trice. A judge granted his bond Friday under the condition he be released directly to a mental health facility. Trice does have a conceal-carry permit, but under Oklahoma law guns are not permitted on school property.

Earlier this week, the husband of a teacher at Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore was charged after leaving a loaded gun in a classroom.
