Sooner fans heading to Norman next week for the Notre Dame game may want to get into town a night early. Those already in town may want to head over to the Lloyd Noble Center for Friday Night Tailgate, an event hosted by Sherri Coale and the OU women's basketball team. The event starts at 5 p.m. and will feature the team in a short scrimmage with Coach Coale on the mic.
Coale will provide details during the scrimmage on the instruction and techniques her team uses on the court. Free t-shirts will also be handed out at the door to the first 500 people.
Live entertainment will include the local band, Banana Seat.
The OU women's team looks to be in the national spotlight again this year with their starting line-up from last year returning, including All-Big 12 selections Aaryn Ellenberg and Whitney Hand, and Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year Sharane Campbell. The Sooners finished second in the conference standings and reached the NCAA tournament last year.
They begin their regular season Thursday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. when they will take on Oklahoma Christian in an exhibition game.
