Moore Woman Accused Of Disguising Self, Robbing Her Grandfather

Police say an Oklahoma City man tackled and held a suspected robber, only to discover the suspect was his own granddaughter.

The 83-year-old victim's neighbor called 911 on November 6 to report the man was holding down someone in front of his apartment in the 9700 block of Mashburn Boulevard near Council Road. When police arrived, they found the man and a witness lying on top of the suspect.

As police began handcuffing the woman, she said she was the victim's granddaughter. When police asked the man if that was true, he said he didn't know because the suspect had wrapped a bandage around her face, and pulled up the hood of her shirt.

When police uncovered the woman's face, the victim positively identified her as his 30-year-old granddaughter, Rebecca Deanne Henderson.

The victim told police someone had knocked at his front door. When he opened it, the masked person forced her way in, pushed him aside, and ran to his desk. The person grabbed a checkbook box, which was filed with more than $3,300 in cash.

The victim said he then chased the suspect as she tried to escape, and managed to force her to the ground when they were outside. A witness then helped him keep her down, while a neighbor called police.

The victim told police he hadn't had any previous problems with Henderson, although she had borrowed money in the past.

Police arrested Henderson and booked her into the Oklahoma County jail on one complaint of robbery. She was also wanted on several city warrants.
