Five University of Oklahoma student-athletes were named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team.

Senior outside hitter Morgan Reynolds was one of five seniors who have been named to the Academic All-Big 12 team three years in a row, joining Kansas' Tayler Tolofree, Texas Tech's Tory Vaughan as well as Kansas State's Caitlyn Donahue and Alex Muff.

Joining Reynolds are senior Maria Fernanda along with a trio of juniors in Mindy Gowen, Sallie McLaurin and Eden Williams.

It is the second consecutive first team selection for McLaurin and Williams who were selected last year. Gowen makes her first appearance on the Academic All-Big 12 first team after she earned second team honors following her sophomore campaign last year.

This year marks the second honor for Fernanda who was named to the 2010 Academic All-Big 12 first team.

A total of 42 student-athletes earned first team recognition, while four individuals made up the second team.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
