Every year it seems I get roped into being the designated driver. My passengers seem to be having a great time. They go in, they have all kinds of fun with a bunch of other loud and crazy people and I usually end up taking a pre-dawn nap in the parking lot.
Now they want me to do it on Thanksgiving night? I don't think so.
Forget black Friday, you snooze you lose, now they're calling Thanksgiving "black Thursday", isn't that nice?
The big box stores are going to be unveiling their door-buster specials Thanksgiving evening when I should be at home hollering from the couch at the relative nearest the pumpkin pie to bring me another slice.
I'm not going to spend Thanksgiving night orbiting a ridiculously crowded shopping center parking lot trying to orchestrate the perfect pull through just so I can whisk them off to another store selling off-brand digital picture frames for $19.99.
Thanksgiving night is for playing games with the family, or piling in the car and heading to a movie or a Christmas light display.
What a shame that we can't just set aside one day, one whole day, to break bread with our loved ones and spend some time after the meal just enjoying their company.
Black Thursday? No it's Thanksgiving, Be thankful.
