Nicole Griffin scored a career-high 19 points as No. 13 Oklahoma battled in the paint to beat Arkansas 73-70 Friday in the opening game of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Griffin was 8-for-11 from the field, including 5-for-5 on field goals in the second half, as the Sooners found alternatives to unusually cold perimeter shooting performances from its guards.

The Sooners were 3-of-18 from 3-point range and 18-of-30 from the free throw line.

OU's top scorer Aaryn Ellenberg had just one point after spending most of the first half on the bench with two fouls. Morgan Hook and Whitney Hand each had 14 points.

Freshman Maddie Manning totaled 10 points and eight rebounds in her first career start.

Arkansas' Keira Peak scored a game-high 30 points and was the lone player able to outpace the Sooners' screen smashing defense.

Peak buried a closely contested 3-pointer as the shot clock expired to tie the game 54-54 with 6:20 to play. Hook responded with a 3 for Oklahoma and Arkansas missed five of its final seven field goal attempts.

The Lady Razorbacks held an early lead, but lost its offensive power when Peak was forced to sit on the bench in foul trouble. In that time, Oklahoma pulled away with a 15-0 scoring run lasting six minutes.

Oklahoma led 26-19 at halftime.

Oklahoma next faces Oregon in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu Saturday at 6 p.m. Central.
