Girl Listed In Good Condition At OKC Hospital After Accidental Shooting

The 12-year-old Pottawatomie County girl, who was accidentally shot by her brother the night before Thanksgiving, is listed in good condition at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Sunday.

The girl is identified as Stephanie Lawson.

Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth says Lawson was accidentally shot by her 11-year-old brother last Wednesday night while they were home with another teenager.

Investigators say the brother was just playing around when he picked up a pistol he thought was empty and fired once at his sister. Stephanie was hit in the back.

Dispatchers say the boy immediately called 911 and explained what happened. He then put pressure on the wound until help arrived.

Charges are not expected to be filed in this case.
