A suspected scam artist tricked a woman she met in a Wal-Mart parking lot into giving her $7,000, and now police are hoping you can help them find her.
Oklahoma City Police say the suspect approached the 68-year-old victim at the Wal-Mart at 6100 W. Reno. She told the victim she'd found a day planner and didn't want to open it alone. Police say the suspect convinced the victim they should exchange cash, and then open the day planner together.
The victim withdrew $7,000 from her bank account and gave it to the suspect. The suspect was supposed to do the same, but never returned with the victim's money.
Police say it's not clear how the exchange was supposed to benefit the 68-year-old victim, but because of the nature of the crime they are categorizing it as financial exploitation of the elderly.
Police have released a photo of the suspect taken by a surveillance camera. They ask anyone who recognizes the suspect to immediately call police. The victim's husband is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the suspect's arrest and prosecution.
