Small Earthquake Recorded In Payne County Sunday Morning

A small earthquake was recorded near Ripley, Oklahoma, Sunday morning.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 2.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 10:46 a.m. Sunday. Its epicenter is located seven miles north, northeast of Ripley, nine miles west of Yale, and 51 miles west of Tulsa.

It was about three miles deep.

No injuries or damage were reported in this earthquake.

Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are general the smallest that are felt by humans.
