Aggie fans were treated to a wild game inside Oscar Williams Field House Saturday night as OPSU met up with a solid Ft. Hays State Univ. team.

In the first minute of play, Bill Lee stole the ball and dished it to Damar Hill, who scored from outside to get the Aggies started. OPSU remained ahead until with just over 14 minutes left in the first half, FHSU pulled ahead by one. The lead see-sawed and with 10 minutes left, the teams were tied 21 all. With nine seconds left in half one, two free throws put the Tigers ahead by four, but a Tavien Rosemond slam just before the buzzer made it 43-41.

Changes in the lead continued in half two with neither team gaining an advantage by much or for very long. With 3:23 left in the game, FHSU capitalized on an OPSU technical foul and added 17 points while holding the Aggies to only 11 to take the 87-80 win.

Damar Hill led the Aggies with 18 points and eight assists. Tavien Rosemond had 16 points and seven rebounds while Krys Randolph followed with 13 points and Bill Lee with 11. With the loss, the Aggies fall to 4-6 on the season and the tigers improve to 6-2.

The men play a final home game before the holiday break on Monday, Dec. 17, with a game against Bethel College at 7 p.m.

Women Drop Game to Ft. Hays

The Ft. Hays State University women's basketball team (9-0) came to town ranked 11th in the nation by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and maintained their perfect start to the season, winning 87-54 over the Aggies (3-7).

The Tigers put up 11 points at the beginning of the game while holding the Aggies scoreless when Coca broke the spell with 3-pointer. Coca struck again from downtown a minute later, putting OPSU only down by seven, but it turned out to be the closest the home team would get. FHSU was ahead by 20 at the half, 44-22.

Aggie scoring improved in half two, especially from beyond the arc. Two-point goal percentages went from 32 to nearly 38 percent and 3-pointers from 20 to 43 percent, but the Aggies could not answer the 44 points the Tigers scored inside compared to their 12.

Katelyn Edwards and Kate Lehman earned double doubles for the Tigers, with Edwards leading all scorers with 18 points and a total of 12 rebounds while Lehman put up 16 and grabbed 13 rebounds. OPSU's Whitley Coca led the Aggie scoring with 16 followed by Da'Veonna Munson with 11. Coca also had 8 rebounds plus dished out 6 assists and Sharice Papaleo pulled down 7 rebounds.

The women are off for the holiday until they play West Texas A&M on Dec. 29 at 4 p.m. in Canyon.
