Prosecutors filed charges against a teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student in the town of Cromwell.
The alleged abuse happened for a nearly six-month period. Now, Russell Walden faces three serious counts for his alleged involvement with a student, and if he's convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Kissing, touching and rubbing up against a 16-year-old girl are just some of the allegations against a teacher at Butner High School in Cromwell. Seminole County prosecutors filed felony counts against Russell Walden Monday afternoon.
Walden lived on the school grounds with his wife. The acts allegedly happened inside their house when no one was at home except for Walden and the girl.
Sunday, Walden resigned from his teaching position after his attorney Ed Blau advised him to do so. The school district released a short statement saying in part, "The Board of Education accepted his resignation December 15, 2012."
Walden's attorney says his client plans on turning himself in Tuesday at his arraignment. He says Walden will post bail and they will get to work on the case.
Once he posts bail, he will not be allowed to have any contact with the 16-year-old involved in the case.
Russell Walden's attorney says his client does not have a prior record.
