"It was amazing she actually survived," said Chad Goodson, who was inside the Southern Oaks Library working, when he heard what he thought was an explosion.

That's when the janitor came in and said a woman had been hit by a car.

"She had just got through checking out her books, and I guess was fixing to leave," said Goodson. "About five minutes later, all I heard was a big boom!"

Goodson says the woman suffered a deep cut to her head, but was coherent. So he did what he could until the ambulance arrived.

"And she had blood on her hand, blood on the ground, and she had lost a shoe," said Goodson. " So, I put my jacket over her feet to try to keep her warm."

The Southern Oaks Library security cameras did capture the accident and the aftermath.

But Danyell Berry says he saw what happened right before at the Brighton Place Apartments.

"We seen the guy running into the trash can and then he backed into a few cars," recalled Berry. " And then he ran into the fence in the back. We was like really shocked to see it all happen."

Police arrested the driver, 28-year-old Emiliano Sanchez, for the accident. He is currently in jail on suspicion of DUI.

Police say they found Sanchez passed out in the front seat with an empty bottle of tequila in the car, unaware of all the damage he had caused. Sanchez is being held on $1,000 bond.

No word on that woman's condition as of Friday night.
