Del City's New Ordinance Takes Aim At Massage Parlors

Del City has taken aim at a handful of massage parlors that have set up shop in Del City in recent months.

Community Services Director Tom Leatherbee says eight massage parlors applied for Del City business permits in April of 2012 alone. He said in an effort to weed out illegitimate parlors, the city imposed a new ordinance last month.

The new ordinance places several new regulations and fees for all massage parlors.

"The fee that was set for massage parlors were similar to tattoo shops or liquor stores," Leatherbee said.

Leatherbee says right now of Del City's 11 massage parlors, only two, Nature Oasis and Tinker Massage and Day Spa, are totally in compliance.
