A man pleaded guilty Tuesday in a Seminole County courtroom to killing his ex-girlfriend in October 2011.
Roger Gober entered his guilty plea to second-degree murder and desecration of a human corpse. Gober said he helped his fiancé, Marilee Smotherman, kill Veronica Carlson and bury her in a shallow grave.
Gober was sentenced to 35 years for the murder, and 20 years for the desecration. The judge ordered the sentences to be served concurrently.
Gober had nothing to say to News 9 or to Carlson's family as he left the courtroom.
Smotherman pleaded guilty January 11 to the same charges. She was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder, and five years for the desecration charge. Her sentences will also be served concurrently.
