Junior hurler Dalton Majors was impressive in his MACU debut, but the Mid-America Christian University Evangels' offense couldn't get anything going and fell 3-0 to the Texas Wesleyan University Rams in the 2013 season opener Friday afternoon (Feb. 1) in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Rams' combination of Sean Simonz and Michael Scruggs allowed only one hit, with nine strikeouts and no walks.

Simonz started for TWU and lasted six innings and gave up only hit, with eight punchouts. Scruggs then followed and pitched three hitless innings and struck out one.

Majors kept the Evangels close in his five innings of work, surrendering only two earned runs on five hits. Blaine Garriott then came on in relief and pitched the final three frames, with one run allowed on one hit and two strikeouts.

An RBI double by Henry Yates in the third inning snapped a scoreless tie and that was followed by a run-scoring single from Charles Tabone that made it 2-0.

The Rams tacked on a final run on a sacrifice fly by Christopher Arocha in the bottom of the sixth.

Lead-off hitter Bryan McKissick had the lone hit for the Evangels in the fourth and then stole second with one out, but was left stranded.
