Oklahoma City Police have identified a 20-month-old girl killed in a crash that seriously injured her mother.
The two-car collision happened around 7:30 a.m. on Western Avenue just south of Interstate 40. According to police, 20-year-old Maria Castro was driving an SUV south on Western when she became distracted. Police say she then swerved to avoid a cement truck, overcorrected, and spun into oncoming traffic.
The SUV slammed into another vehicle. Castro and daughter, Sophia Brock, were critically injured and rushed to a hospital. Sophia at the hospital.
Police say the 20-month-old was strapped into a car seat when the crash happened.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and did not have to go to the hospital.
