Oklahoma City University fell 1-0 and 4-0 in a doubleheader against Northwood (Texas) Friday at OKC's Jim Wade Stadium.

The Stars, ranked No. 4 in NAIA baseball, had trouble solving Northwood's pitching staff and dropped their first games of the season to move to 5-2 overall.

Northwood got on the scoreboard first in the top of the fifth inning when Isaac Maturino scored on a throwing error to take a 1-0 lead.

Cody Ferrell delivered the Stars' first hit with a double in the bottom of the sixth, but OCU stranded him at third base.

Jonathan Rodriguez singled in the top of the seventh, but the OCU bats couldn't rally and the Stars fell 1-0.

Starting pitchers Derek Howell took a no-hitter into the top of the seventh. The senior from Krum, Texas, allowed one hit and no earned runs with four strikeouts in seven innings.

In the second game, Northwood scored first in the top of the second. Maturino homered over the left-field fence and gave the Knights a 2-0 lead.

Chris Muñoz led off the bottom of the fourth with a single to right. Muñoz stole second, but was left there by the OCU offense.

Northwood added runs in the top of the fourth and top of the seventh to take the 4-0 victory.

Starting pitcher Cody Crabaugh gave up four runs on six hits and struck out five hitters in 6.1 innings. Davis Henderson tossed 0.2 innings in relief.

Northwood pitchers allowed just two hits in each game and allowed one base on balls to shut out the Stars' hitters.
