The decision to drop wrestling from the Olympics draws a lot of criticism, especially in Oklahoma, home to competitive collegiate and high school wrestling programs.

In Mustang, several high school wrestlers called re news "sad," saying it is taking a shot at their future plans.

Kendall Cross, Olympic Gold Medalist Wrestler in 1996, has been an inspiration to young athletes since graduating from Mustang High School and Oklahoma State University.

Training under the same programs as the gold medalist pushes young aspiring athletes to practice more often and strive to win.

Wrestlers at Mustang High said hitting the mat on Tuesday was harder than normal.
