Lauren Gober of Oklahoma City University garnered CoSIDA college-division academic all-district 7 acclaim.
Gober, a senior from Newcastle, Okla., repeated as an academic all-district honoree. Gober has earned a 3.51 cumulative grade point average while pursuing a nursing degree at OCU.
The College Sports Information Directors of America choose the academic all-district team based on the athletes' GPAs and success in competition. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale at his/her current institution. CoSIDA academic all-district choices become eligible for consideration for academic all-American.
Gober has posted career highs in scoring (16.4 a game), rebounding (6.2), assists (1.3), steals (2.22), field-goal percentage (47 percent) and 3-point shooting percentage (44.7) as a senior.
A two-time all-American, Gober owns the OCU career 3-point record with 288. She has accumulated 1,578 points, 650 rebounds, 152 assists, 219 steals and 88 blocked shots as a Star. She was an NAIA scholar-athlete award winner last season.
OCU, ranked second in NAIA Division I women's basketball, plays St. Gregory's at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Stars' home finale. The Stars enter the contest at 21-2, 13-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
