A lockdown was lifted Monday morning at Edmond Memorial High School and Central Middle School following a threat at a nearby church.
Edmond Police say just after 8 a.m., a man walked into First Presbyterian Church at 1001 S. Rankin and started threatening church employees. He reportedly said he was going to "kill the sinners." The man then drove away in a white Ford Crown Victoria, a vehicle that looked very similar to a police cruiser.
The man was later found playing tennis at the Edmond Racket Club. Police took him into custody and are questioning him. His name has not been released.
Police say although the man didn't threaten anyone at the schools, the district put the nearby schools on lockdown as a precaution.
Police say the lockdown in Edmond was unrelated to the lockdown at Guthrie schools.
