Tonight I want to share an email exchange I had with Craig from Oklahoma City who fired off kind of a snarky response after I explained why we went wall to wall with the winter storm coverage a week ago.
"You said it Kelly: Ratings were good, and we wouldn't cover it different next time. The ratings didn't come from my television, and it's good to know that I can also plan on next time, and make arrangements to watch another network. Nonstop coverage of a "possible", but never materializing danger is too much for me."
So, I e-mailed Craig back:
"Your point is right on, AND to follow your logic next time when it does bury YOUR house and cars in snow, and your lights are flickering you'll know exactly which channel to turn to! On 2nd thought, I'm sure the guy in Woodward won't give a hoot that you're getting dumped on because it missed his house, so I guess we'll just leave you hanging and head back to CSI...I'm sure you'll understand."
Guess I was kind of snarky too.. but Craig helps me make my point. NEWS 9's committed to providing LOCAL information, when many, not necessarily all, of our viewers need it.
That's what we can do better than anyone else.
