Police officers at Reagan Elementary School in Norman are standing down after police caught a woman who ran away from officers during a traffic stop.

Bob Mills SkyNews 9 HD was flying overhead as police took the woman into custody. She was sitting in a curb in a neighborhood near the elementary school.

Norman Police tried to pull the woman over for a traffic violation just after noon Thursday. The woman led police on a brief car chase before jumping out of her vehicle and running away.

Police searched for her near 24th Ave. S.E. and Wheatland. They put nearby Reagan Elementary on alert, but said there was never any reason for parents to be concerned.

Police believe the woman may have run from officers because she had warrants out for her arrest.
