Oklahoma State wrestling earned its fifth biggest Bedlam series win, clobbering the Sooners, 40-3, and handing the Cowboys their second-consecutive Big 12 regular season title. With the inaugural regular season title handed out last season, the Cowboys have won the award each year it has been given out.
"If there's something to win, we're going to try to win it," coach John Smith said. "There were some really good things all through the day. I think we got something out of it. More importantly, we won the regular season (Big 12) championship."
The Cowboys scored 24 takedowns in the dual compared to the Sooners two takedowns.
Several Cowboys picked up bonus points, including two pins and four major decisions.
Senior Jordan Oliver finished his final dual at Gallagher-Iba Arena on a high note, gathering his third fall of the day.
"It was amazing coming out here tonight," Oliver said. "Time has flown by. It was exciting to get out here and wrestle in front of Oklahoma State in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Ending my last dual with a pin in a Bedlam match was a great feeling."
Chris Perry earned the night's second pin in 2:02 over Kyle Detmer. Alex Dieringer, Tyler Caldwell, Chris Chionuma and Blake Rosholt each earned major decisions at their respective weight classes.
Other notable wins came at 125 and 141 pounds with Eddie Klimara and Julian Feikert each collecting wins by decisions, respectively.
Tomorrow the Cowboys will compete in the Big 12 individual tournament, seeking their 47th conference championship, with the last two regular season titles included in that number. Fans can keep up with the action on okstate.tv or Big12Sports.com.
