It's a day like no other where Jack Herron says Oklahoma City Police came to his door asking him about his next-door neighbor's dog.

"He's a free spirit. He roams the neighborhood. He's always on the move. So I think everybody out here knows the dog," said Herron. "So it wasn't unusual that he would've been the one out and found something."

What the dog found was the body of an infant male. The dog dropped it off at its owner's home on S Air Depot Blvd. in Southeast Oklahoma City around 7 a.m. Saturday.

"Oh, that's just horrible. It's heartbreaking," said Herron. "I mean that's something that nobody ever wants to hear about.

Police say the infant appeared to be a newborn. Officers searched near the home for hours and brought K9 units to try to track down where the dog may have discovered the infant. Herron's lived in the neighborhood for five years and says he's not used to crime tape being up.

"I'm not sure why here. It's not unusual for Stanley Draper Lake, which is just a few miles down the road, but for out here. This is not the norm," Herron said.

It was a shocking discovery for the woman house sitting for the couple who owns the dog. She says she is still shaken up at what the dog brought home, and says she doesn't know what type of dog it is or anything about the infant's parents.

Police say if you have any information regarding the baby, you're asked to call Oklahoma City Police at (405)-231-2121.
