Man Sentenced For Role In Shooting Of Oklahoma County Deputy

Friday morning, a judge formally sentenced a 20-year-old man who participated in the shooting of an off-duty Oklahoma County deputy outside a popular Oklahoma City restaurant.

Keonta Prince pleaded guilty in December 2012 to his role in the shooting of Major John Waldenville. He received two life sentences, but a judge suspended all but 25 years, of which Prince must serve 85 percent.

Waldenville was working as a security guard at Cattlemen’s Steakhouse in May 2011. As he left to make a bank deposit for the restaurant,he was ambushed by Prince – a former Cattlemen’s employee -- and Christopher Baker, 30. Baker shot Waldenville in the head and both men took off with the money.

Waldenville survived, but was left blind in one eye. He’s still recovering from his injuries.

Baker was convicted in December 2012 of shooting with intent to kill and robbery with a firearm. He was sentenced to life in prison, plus 30 years.
