Central Arkansas responded to its first three-game losing streak of the season in impressively on Tuesday night while No. 18 Oklahoma State dropped its second-straight game.
The Bears collected 19 hits on seven Cowboy pitchers en route to an 11-3 beat down of the Cowboys in Stillwater. In fact, it was the most hits for UCA since May 15, 2010.
Central Arkansas (19-6) jumped out to an early lead over the Cowboys with a 1-0 advantage but the Pokes responded immediately with two runs on three hits in the second half of the first inning.
OSU (19-5) loaded the bases on singles from the top third of their order, and first baseman Tanner Krietemeier drew a bases loaded walk in Zach Fish to tie the game at 1-1. Catcher Victor Romero grounded into a double play, allowing Oklahoma State to add another run and take the 2-1 lead.
But the lead would be short lived as the Bears collected three more runs in the second to go up 4-2 and they never looked back.
OSU scored once more in the third when Aaron Cornell scored on a sacrifice fly by Krietemeier to pull within 4-3. The Bears would add runs in the fifth (2), sixth (1), seventh (2) and eighth (2) innings to blow away the Cowboys.
UCA's Forrest Allday and Scott Zimmerle lead the Bears with four hits apiece, while Blake Marchal delivered five RBIs on the night.
The Cowboys could get nothing going offensively against UCA's Clint Green, who relieved starter Zach Barr in the second inning and worked seven innings, allowing just one run on one hit to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Pitcher Kenton Bevacqua suffered the loss for the Cowboys, allowing four runs on five hits in only 1.1 innings to fall to 1-2 on the year.
Next up for OSU is a return to Big 12 play on Thursday when the Cowboys host the first of a three-game series against Texas at 6:36 p.m. at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
