A man was arrested on first-degree murder charges after a transient he attacked last week died at the hospital Thursday morning.
According to police, 49-year-old David Dailey got into a fight with another transient, 31-year-old Audie Burris, while living in a transient camp near N.W. 6th and Brauer.
Burris reportedly struck Dailey multiple times with a bat, before fleeing the scene.
Police say Dailey's friends took care of him for two or three days until they finally called for EMSA to transport him to a hospital on March 24.
Dailey was pronounced dead Monday morning due to his injures.
Burris was arrested on Wednesday on the charge of assault with a deadly weapon. After Dailey's death, the charge was amended to first-degree murder.
This is the 14th homicide in Oklahoma City.
