Shattered windows and lots of cars damaged, Norman is still cleaning up after getting pounded by an early morning hail storm.
Many residents are still stunned the strong hail left its mark on cars and roofs across the city.
"And then the window, you know was cracked in several places," says Stacy Shoemake, whose car was pummeled by hail.
"I mean yes, we have hail in Oklahoma, but I've never experienced anything like this," Shomake said. "It was a beautiful day. I was wearing shorts all day. And then all of a sudden, a hail storm in the middle of the night."
Shoemake says hail stones banged on her home around 4 a.m. Easter morning and pounded repeatedly for half an hour.
"Oh, it was extremely loud," Shoemake said. "Sounded like people were just throwing baseballs at the house."
Hail hit several parts of Norman throughout Sunday morning. Some pieces were big as golf balls. Other targets were cars and windows at David Stanley Chevrolet and the roof of the Del Rancho drive-in.
Hail totally shattered some windshields in Robert Newberg's neighborhood.
"I went to bed thinking it was okay, woke up thinking wow, it's the Fourth of July because you could hear all the hits, sounded like the roof was going to have holes in it because it was hitting so hard," Newberg said. "It was like boom, boom, boom, a rude awakening, so to speak."
Newberg said it makes him sick every time he looks at the dents on the hood of his jeep from the hail storm.
"I feel bad for everybody here, you know, being that it's Easter weekend," Newberg said. "And they get to wake up to this beautiful site of damage to everybody's car."
And to make matter's worse, Shoemake says she replaced the windows of her car last year after they were damaged in a tornado that hit Norman. Now, she has to do it all over again because of the hail storm damage.
