University of Oklahoma sophomore Dane Webb was named the Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
Webb, ranked No. 53 nationally by the ITA in singles this week, clinched OU's win over rival Texas by beating then-No. 85 Daniel Whitehead, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. He also secured the Sooners' sweep over No. 33 TCU by topping Orlando Superlano, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6).
In doubles, the then-No. 29 tandem of Webb and senior Costin Paval upset then-No. 23 Chris Camillone and David Holiner, 8-6, in the Red River Rivalry. They also beat TCU's then-No. 79 Nick Chappell and Will Stein, 8-5, to win the first match of the day against the Horned Frogs.
Webb has a six-match winning streak for an overall record of 14-5 in singles and 11-4 record in doubles.
The Sooners travel to Waco, Texas, Friday, April 12, to face the No. 15 Baylor Bears at 6 p.m.
