An unusual undercover prostitution sting targets truck stops.
The Canadian County Sheriff's Office says it has been getting complaints of prostitutes in truck stops and even weigh stations from customers, truckers and business owners.
"We park our truck, they come knocking on the door you know," said Terry Ballard, a trucker.
The Canadian County Sheriff's Office says they had a semi they confiscated from a drug deal and decided to put it to use. Deputies took the truck, put an undercover deputy inside and parked it at one of the truck stops near I-40 and Morgan Road.
"We went over to the truck stop and bam, the next thing we know we have a prostitute climbing in the truck," said Undersheriff Chris West, with the Canadian County Sheriff's Office.
West says that prostitute was 32-year-old Zonita Baker. She was arrested and taken to jail.
"It was much easier than what we thought it was going to be and that's a sad thing," said West.
Still, based on the success of Saturday night's operation, West says now the truck may be a new tool in fighting crime.
"I'm happy, my wife is thrilled," said Ballard.
West says Baker had a lengthy arrest record. She was booked into jail on a $6,000 bond.
