Another small earthquake was recorded near the town of Jones, Okla., Friday afternoon, in what has shaped up to be a very seismic week for central Oklahoma.

Another small earthquake was recorded near the town of Jones, Okla., Friday afternoon, in what has shaped up to be a very seismic week for central Oklahoma.

The 2.6 magnitude temblor struck around 1:40 p.m. and was one of the smaller quakes recorded this week.

The epicenter was located three miles northeast of the town of Jones, or about 17 miles east northeast of the OKC metro area, at a depth of about three miles.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), 17 earthquakes ranging from magnitudes 2.5 to a magnitude 4.3 have been recorded in central Oklahoma in the last seven days.

"We can't tell if it's going to get worse and this has been such an odd set of earthquakes that it's hard to say what might come in the future, not that we can predict the future anyway," said Oklahoma Geological Survey Seismologist Austin Hollan, after Tuesday's round of quakes.

The USGS says earthquakes with magnitudes from 2.5 to 3 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans.
