For the first time since 2009, Oklahoma State's women's golf team emerged victorious at the Big 12 Championship, posting a two-shot victory on Sunday at The Harvester Golf Club.
The Cowgirls carded an 11-over 299 to finish at 905, 41-over par, and two strokes clear of Baylor's 907 total. The Lady Bears began the day leading by one shot. Iowa State entered the day tied for second place before finishing alone in third at 912.
The victory gave OSU its eighth Big 12 title overall and its second at The Harvester. The Cowgirls also won the event at the par-72, 6,055-yard layout in 2001.
Baylor's Lauren Taylor finished at 3-under 213 to win the individual title by eight strokes.
Individually, the Cowgirls had four top-10 finishers, tying their own championship record set in 2008 and 2009.
Senior Kelsey Vines, freshman Julie Yang, junior Jayde Panos and junior Josephine Janson all finished in the top 10, earning all-tournament team honors with their showings.
Vines posted a closing 75 to finish tied for fifth at 10-over 226, giving her a second consecutive top 10 at the event. The finish also marked the seventh time this season the 2012 Big 12 Player of the Year has finished in the top five.
Panos closed with her low round of the event, an even-par 72, to move up 14 spots into a tie for seventh place at 227. Her finish gave her the second top 10 at the tournament of her career after finishing fifth a year ago.
Yang maintained her spot in the top 10, posting a closing 79 to also finish tied for seventh at 227.
The tournament's runner-up in 2011, Janson earned her second career top-10 finish at the event, tying for 10th place after posting a 77 for a 229 total.
Lauren Falley posted a 75 during her third round to move up 12 spots in the individual standings. The junior finished at 233 and tied for 17th place.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on April 27 when they host in-state rival Oklahoma at Karsten Creek in the second annual Bedlam Cup.
