A man accused of rape, kidnapping and burglary has now been released from custody.
Sources in the records office at the Oklahoma County Jail told News 9 they received a note late Wednesday night from police to release Darron Ken Blanchard from custody because they were not pursuing charges against him.
Blanchard, 48, was accused of forcing his way into the victim's apartment, then raping her repeatedly throughout the night. The victim told police she was finally able to escape when she told Blanchard she needed to use the bathroom.
Blanchard allegedly then stole the victim's cell phone and took off.
Police spokesman Gary knight could not confirm the release or why police are not pursuing charges because the investigator is out of town until Friday.
