A young northwest Oklahoma City couple is facing felony charges after drug agents raid their home early Monday morning.
Authorities say the couple had two young children in the home potentially exposed to drugs and illegal activity.
The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics says it's very concerning that this kind of activity would take place in the presence of children. Small amounts of meth, full and empty prescription bottles, several stolen drivers licenses, and insurance cards were found inside the home.
"Yes, it's definitely shocking," said neighbor Cindy Shaw. "It's really not heard of over here."
According to OBN, 26-year-old Weston Guinn, and 20-year-old Stephanie Barnes are part of a large prescription forgery ring across the metro. Agents have been working to bust the ring for several months now.
"It started with us being contacted by medical professionals and pharmacies about some of their prescriptions that were being passed, were forged," said Mark Woodward with OBN.
Woodward says hydrocodone has been the most popular prescription pain killer and people are doing whatever they can to get their hands on it.
"There's a lot of people who are hooked on it, and so there is a big demand for it," Woodward said.
And in a lot of cases, Woodward says suppliers are feeding their own addictions.
No one was home when News 9 stopped by Tuesday evening. It was about 6 a.m. Monday when agents arrested Guinn and Barnes after searching their home.
Guinn has since bonded out of jail. Each now face multiple felony charges including child endangerment, and distribution of forged, and altered prescription pads.
"Plus, you're talking about drugs that can be on coffee tables right there in arms reach, and small children, and a fire arm that was inside the house," Woodward said.
"It's one thing you just don't want to get into," Shaw said.
Woodward says they do expect more arrests similar to this one. OBN has served a number of warrants in the last few weeks in relation to the prescription forgery ring.
Guinn already has a lengthy criminal history including drug possession, DUI, and traffic violations.
