Oklahoma State junior softball player Tarah Ettinger was named the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Week for games played May 3-5, the league office announced today. It is the final weekly award of the season.
On Saturday, the Plainfield, Ill., native, hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning that ended up being the difference maker in the Cowgirls' 2-1 victory over No. 6 Texas. She went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in a 7-2 loss to the Longhorns on Sunday.
The junior batted .444 (4-for-9) with a .889 slugging percentage in three games against Texas, helping OSU win its first series over the Longhorns since 2001. The first baseman also had eight putouts and no errors during the series.
Ettinger is the first Cowgirl to receive the honor this season and the first to do so since 2011.
