Gov. Mary Fallin joined a group of her cabinet secretaries, state workers and private business employees in a walk around the Capitol complex.
Fallin led the "Walk for Wellness" Wednesday to raise awareness for worksite wellness programs.
A report by the United Health Foundation ranks Oklahoma 43rd in the nation in health outcomes. Fallin says worksite wellness programs can help improve the state's ranking by urging employees to adopt healthier habits and be tobacco free.
Fallin calls participating in daily physical activity "an important first step."
Fallin has signed an executive order banning tobacco use on state property and has converted vacant space in the basement of the Capitol into a small fitness center.
