Wind Burst Wrecks Enid Police Vehicle, Officer Injured

An Enid Police Officer was injured after a sudden powerful burst of wind blew dust and debris onto U.S. Highway 412 causing the officer to lose control of his vehicle and crash, Saturday night.

An Enid Police Officer was injured after a sudden powerful burst of wind blew dust and debris onto U.S. Highway 412 causing the officer to lose control of his vehicle and crash, Saturday night.

According to the Enid News Twitter page (@enidnews), multiple vehicles were involved in the crash on US 412.

The Emergency Manager of Garfield County tells News 9 that a heat burst caused winds to accelerate to speeds in excess of 80 mph.

It is unclear at this time how severely the officer was injured.

News 9 is told that as many as 10 cars may have been involved in the crash. The condition of the other drivers is not known at this time.
