While downtown Oklahoma City avoided a direct hit by a tornado Friday, low-lying areas were damaged by high water.

While downtown Oklahoma City avoided a direct hit by a tornado Friday, low-lying areas were damaged by high water.

As many as a dozen first-floor units took in more than a foot of water at the Legacy apartments on Robert S. Kerr. Houston Lee says the high water startled him.

"We actually ended up crawling out of our window of the bedroom, because the water had risen so much, we didn't want to open the doors to let the floodgates open. It was pretty bad," he said. 

Over at Deep Deuce Grill, owner Craig Brown says it was the worst storm downtown he'd seen in 30 years. 

"We've never seen water like that in Oklahoma City," he said.
