Parties, Basketball Camp Set To Lift Spirits Of Moore Students, Teachers

Several police organizations have teamed up to organize private parties and a basketball camp for students, teachers, faculty and staff from Moore schools.

Several police organizations have teamed up to organize private parties and a basketball camp for students, teachers, faculty and staff from Moore schools.

The National Association of Police Athletic/Activities League Inc. (PAL), the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Moore Police Department are sponsoring private parties Tuesday June 11 and Thursday, June 13, at Hey-Day Entertainment Center. The parties will be between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., and are only for the tornado-affected students and staff – and their families – from Plaza Towers and Briarwood elementary schools.

The parties, which are free, will include laser tag, arcade games and pizza.

The National PAL has also partnered with the NBA National Basketball Retired Players Association to host a private basketball camp for young students in the Moore school system. The camp will take place June 13 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Moore High School. The camp is limited to students in the 6th grade and below.

It will be announced on the day of the event which retired and current NBA players will attend the camp.

Oklahoma City Police PAL officers and Moore Police officers are invited to attend the private parties and to assist as coaches in the basketball camp.
