A suspect is sitting in jail Wednesday morning after a five-hour standoff with police in Union City.

The standoff began around 7:30 p.m. at a home near S.W. 59th Street and Gregory. The family of 42-year-old Patrick Wimberly called police, saying the man was high on drugs and tearing up the house.

Several law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene. Wimberly barricaded himself inside the house, alone. Officers tried for hours to convince him to come out, but he refused.

After midnight Wednesday, the SWAT team burst into the house. Wimberly put up a fight and was tazed in the struggle. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in El Reno to be checked out. After doctors cleared him, Wimberly was booked into the Canadian County jail.
