News 9's Dean Blevins confirms that current Virginia Tech baseball coach Pete Hughes has been tabbed to replace Sunny Golloway as the head baseball coach at Oklahoma.
Hughes went 222-144 in seven seasons as the head coach of the Hokies. Virginia Tech went 40-22 this season and hosted a regional this season for the first time in program history, a regional that Oklahoma ended up winning.
Hughes previously coached eight seasons at Boston College before moving on to Virginia Tech.
Golloway left Oklahoma two weeks ago to become the head coach at Auburn University after nine seasons as the head coach in Norman. Golloway's departure was met with mixed feelings as some fans and former players openly celebrated a coaching change.
