Spiders may seem to be getting a little too close for comfort.

Right now, pest control companies say they've been inundated with calls about sometimes menacing house guests.

"It seem this year is abnormally high for the number of spiders," said Aaron Christensen with A+ Pest Control.

Christensen says two mild winters combined with a wet spring and our recent hot weather has brought more spiders out of hiding.

Right now, A+ Pest Control is getting 80 calls a day just for spiders.

"We recommend that people flip the clothes. You don't want to get bite by a brown recluse, they're pretty toxic," says Christensen who is says it's also responding to a lot of calls for black Widows.

Christensen adds that the majority of the spiders they see are not poisonous.

"The skin on the crown of my head feels like it's on fire," said Rich Kriegel, who was recently bit by a spider.

Kriegel, a News 9 photographer, is now taking antibiotics to avoid infection.

"They get a secondary infection and that's what brings them into the office," said Dr. Sara Burnett with Mercy Clinic.
