A fire that started as a controlled burn in northwest Oklahoma City briefly flared out of control Friday morning.

Crews were burning piles of cedar trees at N.W. 97th Street and Harvey when the flames crept beyond the controlled boundaries. Embers were also blowing dangerously close to standing trees to the northwest.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department rushed in and contained the fires. Within 20 minutes, the fires were out.

The fire never threatened any structures.
