Jeremy Lamb scored 18 points to guide OKC past Houston in a game the Thunder led by as much as 20 in the second half before a Rocket rally made things interesting late.
Reggie Jackson sat out for the second-straight game but Lamb was able to carry the load with a helping hand from Daniel Orton and a pair of rookies. Orton came off the bench to score 12 points, while rookie center Steven Adams had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Fellow newcomer Andre Roberson had a well-rounded effort with seven points and he pulled down a game-best 11 rebounds to go with two steals and a block.
Tony Taylor had 11 points for Oklahoma City, highlighted by seven free throws in the final 1:21 of the game to help hold off the Rockets' rally.
The Rockets were led by 21 points from Robert Covington and B.J. Young scored 20.
